May 2ND, 2006 DCUK at The Palmer Showdown The Robin 2 Bilston Sunday 30th April 2006 Carl and Frank Askew of Drum Clinics UK had a great day at The Palmer Showdown on Sunday.It was a great opportunity for many fans to see what the clinics are about and it seemed to be very popular. There will be an account of the days events following shortly. They will be working together in the very near future planning more masterclasses and drum clinics for next year 2007. Carl Palmer Testimonial What a fantastic event! Carl had the children's full attention within seconds and kept it throughout the sessions. He is a natural teacher, a great communicator and a superb musician. Everyone who watched or participated was spellbound and the children went away enthralled. Carl has such tremendous energy and enthusiasm for his subject that he totally captivated a mixed class of 8 to 17 year olds. He moved around amongst them constantly, creating a very personal relationship with them all. His demonstration of his skill at the end of the day was mesmerising. We have had great positive feedback from all who took part and only wish we could have a Carl Palmer Drum Clinic every week. The special needs children who attended were thrilled and stimulated. Those of you who are familiar with the activities of Drum Clinics UK will know that Dave instigated our first drum circle with deaf children in April 2003 at Hodge Hill School in Birmingham and wrote a wonderful testamonial for this site. We will continue to work with children with special needs in memory of Dave. Our condolences go to Dave's wife, Janie and his children, Benjamin and Alan.
