Carl Palmer Band To Embark On Historic 29 Date 2010 North & South American Tour

Rock legend will offer an entire evening the instrumental rock classics of EMERSON LAKE & PALMER.

Prepare for the thunder and the fury...

Carl Palmer, among the most celebrated drummers in Rock History, is preparing to embark on his first extensive solo band tour since 2006. Entitled: “Carl Palmer & His Band – Celebrates The Music of Emerson Lake & Palmer,” the show features bold new arrangements of many of the best-loved instrumental music of ELP.

The tour runs from October 12th through November 21, 2010, and will include 29 shows in Canada, The U.S., and South America. “I am very excited to again be returning to the US, Canada, and South America, with my solo band performing an evening of ELP music and other great composers,” says Palmer. Although The Carl Palmer Band has continually toured through out Europe and the UK, this is the group's first extensive Western Hemisphere tour in five years.

“Since the early part of this decade I have been playing with my own power trio, replacing the keyboards with electric guitar. I felt that was the only honest way to approach the music of ELP. I didn’t want to have a singer trying to sound like Greg Lake. ELP did so much instrumental music, this format made sense to me. Hearing the keyboard parts done on guitar is certainly different, but just as satisfying. The idea was to re-invent this iconic music.”

The group, which features Palmer on drums and percussion; guitarist Paul Bielatowicz and new bassist Simon Fitzpatrick, will serve up an evening of classic ELP music, presented through exciting and innovative new versions. An all-instrumental show, “Carl Palmer Celebrates The Music of ELP” promises to be among the most musically compelling live shows of 2010. Palmer has released four solo albums since the last ELP tour 1998. They are: DO YA WANNA PLAY?, a 2 CD anthology and WORKING LIVE VOL 1, Vol 2., and the all new-Vol.3, released this fall on Eagle Rock.

Since his last extensive US-Canadian tour in 2006, Palmer has remained active with ASIA (Geoff Downes, Steve Howe and John Wetton). ASIA has remained a successful live act throughout the world and released two studio albums since regrouping.

For this solo band tour, Palmer will again meet fans after each show, doing autograph signings at most venues. “As with the last tour, I want to get close to my fans once again,” says Palmer. “There are so many of them out there who are really heartfelt and have supported me through my entire career. I very much look forward to bringing it all back around again in intimate venues.”

The Carl Palmer Band will play nearly two hours and drum enthusiasts can expect an evening of compelling percussive theatrics, from the man who brought the drum set to the forefront of rock n roll music.

New ASIA album - OMEGA - to be released in Spring 2010. more...

(18 Dec 2009)
Carl has been working at Solent University over the last year with Andrew Cross who has been involved with the main promotional film for the Euro Tunnel in the UK. This film can still been seen in London today and was given great acclaim. Carl's work with Andrew is completely different as you can imagine!

They have also made a film on drum solos that is done in a very artistic way. It has to be seen to be believed. You will see it some time very soon in 2010. The film is running about 40 minutes long, comprised of 5 different drum solos by Carl – all filmed at Solent University. Carl will be back at Solent in 2010 teaching in the percussion department and has already given a Lecture at Solent earlier this year on the music business.
